See Music Videos www.bvmtv.com that you CAN'T See on You Tube ! +Live Chat and Embed video codes! Johnny Cash (born JR Cash; February 26, 1932 - September 12, 2003) was a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Primarily a country music artist, his songs and sound spanned many other genres including rockabilly and rock and roll (especially early in his career), as well as blues, folk and gospel. In 1997, Cash was diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease Shy-Drager syndrome. The diagnosis was later altered to autonomic neuropathy associated with diabetes. This illness forced Cash to curtail his touring. He was hospitalized in 1998 with severe pneumonia, which damaged his lungs. The albums American III: Solitary Man (2000) and American IV: The Man Comes Around (2002) contained Cash's response to his illness in the form of songs of a slightly more somber tone than the first two American albums. The video that was released for "Hurt", a song by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, fit Cash's view of his past and feelings of regret. The video for the song, from American IV, is now generally recognized as "his epitaph," and received particular critical and popular acclaim. June Carter Cash died on May 15, 2003, at the age of seventy-one. June had told Cash to keep working, so he continued to record and even performed a couple of surprise shows at the Carter Family Fold outside Bristol, Virginia. (The July 5 ...

Johnny Cash's love for country nearly rivaled that of his love for the Lord, and he took advantage of every opportunity to explore his patriotism in all its complexity and nuance on his short-lived variety show. In this August 30, 1969, "Ride This Train" segment, he salutes the veterans and victims of the Civil War in song and story. Includes a cover of Johnny Horton's "Johnny Reb." That's a whole lot of Johnny!

Odetta on "The Johnny Cash Show," August 30, 1969. The first song she performs is based on a Negro "field blues" song known simply as "Black Woman," then duets with Cash on "Shame And Scandal In The Family," which was written by a calypso artist who went by Sir Lancelot, in the 40s. Thanks to the Commenters who helped me ID these songs. I'm nothing without you!

Johnny Cash (February 26, 1932September 12, 2003), born JR Cash, was an American singer-songwriter and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Primarily a country music artist, his songs and sound spanned many other genres including rockabilly and rock and roll (especially early in his career), as well as blues, folk and gospel. Cash was known for his deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice, the "chicka-boom" freight train sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, his demeanor, and his dark clothing, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black". He traditionally started his concerts with the introduction "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash". Much of Cash's music, especially that of his later career, echoed themes of sorrow, moral tribulation and redemption. His signature songs include "I Walk the Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Ring of Fire", "Get Rhythm" and "Man in Black". He also recorded humorous songs, such as "One Piece at a Time" and "A Boy Named Sue", a duet with June Carter called "Jackson", as well as railroad songs such as "Hey Porter" and "Rock Island Line."

Five Feet High and Rising is a compilation album of songs performed by country singer Johnny Cash released in 1974 by Columbia Records. Lyrics: How high's the water, mama? Two feet high and risin' How high's the water, papa? Two feet high and risin' We can make it to the road in a homemade boat That's the only thing we got left that'll float It's already over all the wheat and the oats, Two feet high and risin' How high's the water, mama? Three feet high and risin' How high's the water, papa? Three feet high and risin' Well, the hives are gone, I've lost my bees The chickens are sleepin' In the willow trees Cow's in water up past her knees, Three feet high and risin' How high's the water, mama? Four feet high and risin' How high's the water, papa? Four feet high and risin' Hey, come look through the window pane, The bus is comin', gonna take us to the train Looks like we'll be blessed with a little more rain, 4 feet high and risin' How high's the water, mama? Five feet high and risin' How high's the water, papa? Five feet high and risin' Well, the rails are washed out north of town We gotta head for higher ground We can't come back till the water comes down, Five feet high and risin' Well, it's five feet high and risin'

"Greystone Chapel" is an American country music song written by Glen Sherley in the late 1960s and was included on the 1968 Johnny Cash album At Folsom Prison, released by the Columbia Records label. Glen Sherley was an inmate at Folsom Prison when he wrote the song, which juxtaposed prison life with spiritual freedom that he found in the Greystone Chapel. Sherley was a fan of Cash, whose songs often sympathized with the plight of prisoners. Cash's hit song "Folsom Prison Blues", as well as his occasional clashes with the law, were largely responsible for his popularity with prisoners. Cash heard the song for the first time at the El Rancho Motel in Sacramento on the night before his Folsom Prison performance. Reverend Gresset -- one of Cash's best friends -- asked a favor: "Johnny, I want you to hear a song written by Glen Sherley, an inmate in Folsom, serving five to life for armed robbery. You've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to tell you about it but I thought if you could mention tomorrow that you've heard the tape, it would please that ol' boy who wrote it." The group then listened to the song: "There's a Greystone chapel here at Folsom, A house of worship in this den of sin. You wouldn't think God had a place at Folsom, But he's saved the soul of many lost men." Cash was enthusiastic. He wrote down the words and by the next day his band was prepared to perform the song at Folsom Prison. Cash ended the concert with the song, which drew huge applause. The ...

jcinfocenter.com American VI Ain't No Grave, the sixth and final installment of Johnny Cash's critically-acclaimed American Recordings album series, will be officially released on February 26, 2010 (American Recordings/Lost Highway), the day that would have been The Man in Black's 78th birthday. As was the case with the previous five albums in the American Recordings series, American VI was produced by Rick Rubin. American VI is deeply elegiac and spiritual, with each song serving as its own piece of the puzzle of life's mysteries and challenges, the pursuit of salvation, the importance of friendships, the dream of peace, the power of faith, and the joys and adversities that entail simple survival. It is an achingly personal and intimate statement from the end of the line, as Johnny Cash looks back on a most extraordinary life. The songs on American VI are drawn from all over the musical landscape and from various eras, and include Sheryl Crow's moving "Redemption Day," close Cash friend Kris Kristofferson's "For The Good Times," "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound" by Tom Paxton, Bob Nolan's "Cool Water," the hopeful "Last Night I had the Strangest Dream" by Ed McCurdy, JH Red Hayes and Jack Rhodes's "Satisfied Mind," Queen Lili'uokalani's song of farewell, "Aloha Oe," and the never before heard Cash original, "I Corinthians: 15:55," written over the last three years of his life. Release date: February 23, 2010
